Highlights of Feb 23rd 2016 Raritan Borough Council Meeting
All council people were present. The meeting was broadcast on "Cablevision-Optimum" Channel 15.
Meetings are not yet broadcast on "Verizon FIOS" - that is probably a month away.
At the meeting The Mayor and Council voted that the owner of the
Damaged Strip Mall on Route 202 needs to tear down the building.

The County is offering to give The Washington School and its Property to Raritan.
But the building is old and may not be in good condition,
so only the property may be of value.
The council will do research on the condition of the building.

John Roglieri, owner of home/property at 8 Third Street, discusses
with mayor and council about the prospect that his property may face

Other Meeting Highlights Include:

Two firefighters, Paul Mazar and Stephen Stackhouse, were appointed. Vote 6-0

Jeffrey Lehrer (of DeFrancesco, Bateman, Kunzman, Davis, Lehrer & Flaum) was authorized to
provide services not exceeding $25,000 as Redevelopment Council.
This was approved 4-2 with Councilman Foohey and Councilman Sibilia voting "No".

Tower/Wrecker License Applications were granted to (Vote 6-0):
Mike's Towing (Bridgewater)
Somerset Hill's Towing (Bridgewater)
Tom DeLucas Towing (Branchburg)
Stewart's Towing (Belle Mead)
Rescue Wreckers (Middlesex)
Ideal Auto Body (Bridgewater)

The "Tour of Somerville Bike Race" will not take place in Raritan this year.
It could perhaps take place next year if a route could be found
that would not require Somerset Street to be closed.

Purchase Orders approved (Vote 6-0):
- $2,395 To Overhead Door Company for a rear garage door at the Firehouse at 16 Anderson Street.
- (Not to exceed) $2,500 to Cooper Tires for Vehicle Tires for Public Works Department
- (Not to exceed) $2,000 to Central Jersey Trailer and Hitch Depot for Public Works Department
